The Wushu spear is made from lightweight steel and wrapped with a synthetic red horse-hair to give it a distinct flair, it features a shaft made up of white wax wood from the Ligustrum Lucidum pivet.
This flexible and spring-like wood only grows in Northern China and has been prized there for thousands of years. It is considered one of the best materials from which to fashion staffs, spear shafts, and walking sticks, because it is tough, hard and flexible and can absorb shock without breaking.
